Amanda Lynne Mohr, age 45 of Johnston, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home. Her sudden departure leaves an ache in the hearts of all who loved her, but also a deep gratitude for the joy, warmth, and light she brought into their lives.

Amanda was born March 6, 1980, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA, to Phillip Michael "Mike" and Faith (Nidey) Villhauer. With her bright red hair and vibrant spirit, she was a beautiful addition to the family, welcomed home by her older siblings—Dawn, Jenifer, and Dennis.

Amanda was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City. She spent her childhood in both Lytton and Rockwell City, IA, and graduated from Rockwell City–Lytton High School. She went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll, IA—a field in which she excelled and built a meaningful career.

On October 9, 1999, Amanda was united in marriage to David "Dave" Mohr, Jr. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City. Together, they built a full and loving family, welcoming their children Chad, Faith, and later Quincy, Everett, and Sean.

Amanda worked as an accountant for several firms over the years and genuinely enjoyed her profession. Organized, dedicated, and hardworking, she took pride in doing her job well.

She was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Chicago Cubs. Creative at heart, she loved beading and making jewelry and even more so, loved wearing it. Butterflies, shiny glittery things, and her beloved cats always brought her joy. She also had a well-known love for cleaning, finding a sense of comfort and accomplishment in it that few could relate to.

Country music, cowboy boots, and camping were all essential parts of Amanda's world. The Fourth of July was her favorite holiday; she always looked forward to it and absolutely loved gathering with all of her family to enjoy the festivities that go along with it. Above all, Amanda adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic and super committed "sports mom," who lived and breathed sports for her kids…always present, always cheering, always supporting, and ALWAYS proud!

Amanda's life was grounded in love—love for her family, her friends, and the simple joys that made her happy. Her passing at such a young age feels impossible to understand, but those who mourn her find comfort in knowing she now rests in a place of peace and contentment, held gently in the Lord's promise of eternal care.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Dave Mohr of Johnston, IA; children Chad (McKayla) Mohr of Pilot Mound, IA, Faith (Austin) Patten of Ames, IA, Quincy Mohr of Louisiana, Everett and Sean Mohr of Johnston, IA; grandchildren Wrenly Mohr and Annabell Patten;  parents Mike and Faith Villhauer of Sac City, IA; siblings Dawn (Jason) Murley of Des Moines, IA, Jenifer Villhauer of Sac City, IA, and Dennis (Kim) Villhauer of Sac City, IA; sisters-in-law Crystal (Mike) Rice of Scranton, IA, and Amber (Jeremiah) Hoyt of Anamosa, IA; brother-in-law Matt (Cindy) Mohr of Scranton, IA; twenty-five nieces and nephews; other extended family member and friends.

Amanda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Phillip and Margaret Villhauer, and Floyd and Hazel Nidey; and her parents-in-law, David, Sr., and Jan Mohr.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 - service time on Tuesday morning at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa.  A full Obituary will be posted soon.
