Andrew G. Harms – age 81, of Pocahontas, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Andrew George Harms was born on December 24, 1938, on the Harms family farm near Burt, Iowa. He was the son of Jesse and Alleda (Ides) Harms. He graduated from Burt Community School in 1956. After graduation he joined the Army National Guard. Once he returned from the National Guard, he had many jobs in and around Burt. In 1961, he was united in marriage to Barbara Weiner. To this union 3 children were born. Andrew later moved to Pocahontas, Iowa where he worked at Howard Shimon Ford and then Pocahontas Ford. In June 18, 1983, Andy was united in marriage to Sylvia Smith at Pocahontas, Iowa, where the couple made their home. Andy continued working at Pocahontas Ford until his retirement in 1997.

Andy enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, listening to polka music and Boxcar Willie, visiting with family and friends and traveling to Branson, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; his children, Brenda (Eric) Underberg of Livermore, Kirk Harms of Des Moines and Kent (Lisa) Harms of Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Alvina Carlson of Algona, Betty (John) Monaghan of Waverly, Ruth (Garry) Davis of Waverly, Mary (Norman) Carlson of Clarion and Norma (Bob) Ruhnke of Algona; sister-in-law, Shelly Harms of Burt; brothers, James (Karole) Harms of Fort Dodge and Harris (Betty) Harms of Burt; brother-in-law, LeRoy Davis of Cedar Falls and many nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Davis; brother, David Harms; infant twin sisters, Donna and Doris and brother-in-law, Phillip Carlson.
