Anna B. Tjelmeland - age 96, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, Iowa.

Anna Bernadine Beekman was born on January 29, 1924 in Pocahontas. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Henrichs) Beekman. She was educated in Lincoln Twp. Country School and graduated from Pocahontas Public High School. She attended Hamilton School of Business and later worked at the Pocahontas Public School. On May 22, 1965, Anna was united in marriage to Ronald Tjelmeland at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple settled in Laurens. Ron passed away in 1982. In 1983, Anna moved to Pocahontas where she worked in bookkeeping for 50 years at the Commercial State Bank and then Citizens State Bank.

Anna was a life long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Ladies Circle and the church sewing group.

Survivors include her step-son, Ed Tjelmeland of Fort Dodge; step-daughter, JoAnn Schumann of Albert City; six nephews and many step-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; sister, Alberta Traynor; brother, Robert Beekman; step-daughter, Mary Meister and great-nephew, Matthew Beekman.
