Ann Younggreen Sullivan was born to Daniel Gustaf Younggreen and Laura Garnet Jeffers Younggreen on July 16, 1942. She was a third generation Iowan and grew up in Laurens alongside her younger brother, Larry Daniel Younggreen.

She participated in band and choir at Laurens High School where she graduated in 1960. She then studied architecture at Iowa State University, completing the university's demanding five-year architecture program in 1965. While at Iowa State, Annie met her husband, Larry Michael Sullivan, through mutual friends. Their friendship grew and evolved into a devoted long-distance relationship after Larry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961.

Annie and Larry were married on August 15, 1965, at the First Christian Church in Laurens, Iowa. Their wedding reflected Annie's many talents and individuality: she made her own wedding dress and sang "The Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony.

Larry's naval career took them across the country , living in places such as Seattle, San Diego, Monterey, and San Francisco.. Annie even got to meet up with Larry in Singapore during his Philippines tour. In 1975, Annie and Larry made their home in the San Francisco Bay Area in a town called Kensington. Annie continued developing her career in architecture with projects in the Bay Area as well as several projects in Alaska. She maintained contact with her ISU architecture friends throughout her life and took great pride in being an architect.

Larry and Annie embraced the cultural and natural beauty of Northern California. They were devoted patrons of the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera, enthusiastic singers in a local choral group, generous hosts and tour guides to visiting family and friends, and frequent visitors to the ski slopes around Lake Tahoe.

In later years, Annie faced significant health challenges. Larry devoted himself to caring for her full-time for the next decade. Their enduring devotion to one another remained evident throughout those years until Larry's passing on May 12, 2020. When Larry passed away Annie required 24/7 full time care. Her nephew Jonathan Sullivan and an amazing caretaker named Amy helped manage Annie's home, healthcare, and life matters. Jonathan, Amy, and several other caregivers became a key fixture in Annie's life in her final years.

Annie passed on December 3, 2025. She will be remembered for her intelligence, artistic talent, perseverance, musical spirit, and the independent spark that made her unmistakably herself.

Annie's graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Laurens Cemetery near Laurens, Iowa.
