Barbara Mayberry – age 100, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa.

Barbara Roser was born on June 25, 1921, at Pittsfield, MA. She was the daughter of John and Edna (Miner) Roser. She graduated from Pittsville High School and went on to college where she became a Registered Nurse. Barbara served in the U.S. Army from 1942 – 1944 as an Army Nurse. On December 17, 1943, Barbara was united in marriage to Elwood Mayberry in Nashville, TN. Following her military service, Barbara settled in Pocahontas where she and Elwood owned and operated a produce and supply store. They also operated a Montgomery Wards Store in Pocahontas for many years. Elwood passed away in January of 2004 and Barbara continued to make her home in Pocahontas.

Barbara was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Pocahontas until it's closing. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the V.F.W. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Survivors include her children, Elwood Jr. "Jack" (Connie) Mayberry of Tucson, AZ, Patricia Novak of Harpers Ferry and Quentin (Carol) Mayberry of Janesville, WI; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood; siblings, James Roser, John "Jack" Roser Jr., Jean Griffin and Dorothy Wedell.

The family requests that memorials be made in Barbara's name to the Pocahontas Public Library.
