On the morning of December 13, 2020, Bertha Isabelle Geiger Olson passed over into life eternal. She was born on October 10, 1919, to Anton Carl Geiger and Sylvia Mae (Hagedon) Geiger in Bayard, IA. For over 101 years she lived exuberantly celebrating the grand and the small moments and experiences of life.

Following high school graduation in Sleepy Eye, MN, she attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with a major in social work. While attending graduate school at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, she married Arthur Miles Olson on February 7, 1943. Upon completion of dental school Miles entered the US Army and the couple traveled to bases in Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma. While stationed at Ft. Worth, Bertha served as a case worker for the Red Cross. Following military service, Miles and Bertha located in Laurens and opened a dental practice in 1947. In later years she worked as a school social worker in 13 schools of the Pocahontas Area Education Agency. Bertha was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she attended Bible study, served on the altar guild and various other committees. She was a patient advocate for the NW Iowa Mental Health facility and member of the Laurens Women's Club. Bertha enjoyed knowing relatives and friends from several generations and often said it kept her engaged and young in spirit.

She was the loving mother of two children: Jerry (Susan) Olson of Des Moines, IA and Linda (Sheldon) Bieri of Laurens. Grandchildren include Deanna Samuelson, Julie Samuelson, Anton Olson, Linnea Dolan, Elise Patzke, Laura Beth Latham, Case Bieri and 13 great grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Thelma Schewe and in 1994, by her husband, Miles.

Bertha's family request that memorials be made in her name to Bethany Lutheran Church.
