Betty J. Abrahamson – age 75, of Pocahontas, passed on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Betty Jane Behrendsen was born on January 28, 1944, at Waterloo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Vera (Lynch) Behrendsen. She graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1962. She earned her CNA certification and worked at a care center in Storm Lake. On March 1, 1964, Betty was united in marriage to Jon Abrahamson at Gilmore City. The couple settled near Palmer where they farmed and raised their family. Betty worked as a CNA in Pocahontas and then Pomeroy. She then worked as an aid at the Pomeroy schools and then worked as a receptionist at the DSOC in Fort Dodge. In the late 1990's Jon and Betty moved into Palmer. John passed away in April of 2007. In 2009, Betty moved to Pocahontas where she worked as an aid at the Pocahontas school.

Betty was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and the church circle. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends at the Family Table. She especially loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Todd (Mary) Abrahamson of Arnolds Park; Tara (Brian) Deling of Dolliver; Shane Abrahamson of Spirit Lake and Andrew (Makalia) Abrahamson of Omaha, NE; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jon and brothers, Arden and Jerry Behrendsen.
