Betty Griffin- age 88, of Laurens, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Helen "Betty" Elizabeth Stoulil was born on July 15, 1933, in Bradgate, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Matilda (Johnson) Stoulil. She graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1951. On July 20, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to Kermit Griffin in Gilmore City. The couple lived in various cities in the Midwest until 1973, when they settled in Laurens. Betty worked in Laurens at the care center for over 25 years. Betty was an incredible cook and she shared her talent as cook for the Congregate Meal Program for 45 years, for the Knights of Columbus monthly meetings for 40 years as well as other church events. Kermit passed away in 2007 and Betty continued to make her home in Laurens.

Betty was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas and a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. She especially loved the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include her children, Bob (Deb) Griffin of Ft. Lupton, CO, Kevin (Rhonda) Griffin of Laurens, Carol Clark of Arnolds Park, Kelly (Jen) Griffin of Emmetsburg, Scott (Tamara) Griffin of Laurens, Mick Griffin of Laurens, Jim Griffin of Laurens, Tom Griffin of Curlew, Dan Griffin of Laurens, Tim Griffin of Laurens and Todd Griffin of Laurens; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Bonnie Halligan of Gilmore City.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit; a son, Brian; brothers, Robert, Ed and Tom Stoulil and sister, Mary Ann Degnan.
