Betty L. Marine – age 97, of Rolfe, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at the Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Betty Lorraine Harris was born on September 24, 1923, on a farm south of Rolfe. She was the daughter of Ivan E. and Ellen (Johnson) Harris. She graduated from Rolfe High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to George W. Marine on October 6, 1941, in Jackson, Minnesota. After George's discharge from the navy in 1945, they moved to Fulda, MN to farm. In 1947, they returned to the Rolfe area to a farm northeast of Rolfe.   In 1988, they moved to a farm north of Rolfe where she lived until 2015 after George's death in September of 2012.   She lived in assisted living in West Bend until 2018, when she went into the Care Center.

Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Church, then the Shared Ministry until it closed. She was a member of women's circles of both churches. She was an avid reader and was on the library board.   She loved doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed finding the "I's" in the Iowa Magazine. She was a long-time member of Tuesday Club and she helped with the reading program at Rolfe Elementary School. She always planted and harvested a big garden, took care of the lawn mowing and helped George on the farm, including the milking operation.

Betty is survived by her son, Mike (Madonna) Marine of Rolfe; daughters, Bette Jo (Tim) Kemna of Rolfe and Becky (Jon) Jamison of Emmetsburg; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Barb (Willie) Hartmann of Hartley and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George of almost 71 years before his death in 2012; brothers, Ivan E. Harris, Jr and Alan J. Harris.
