Elizabeth "Betty" Vosberg age - 85, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at her home near Pocahontas, Iowa.

Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Pastor John Mayer officiating.

Burial will be at Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas, Iowa

There will be no visitation.

Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Lawver was born August 28, 1934 in Geddes, South Dakota. Betty was educated in various schools. Betty's mother was principal and her father was superintendent in small schools across South Dakota and Iowa. They moved frequently through her formable years. Betty advanced pass eleventh grade and graduated from Curlew High School in 1951. Betty attended two years of junior College at Emmetsburg and graduated in 1955 from the University of South Dakota at Vermillion with BS in Business.
Betty commenced teaching at Pocahontas Iowa on her 21st birthday in 1955. On November 27, 1957 Betty married Marvin Vosberg. In 1958 due to school policy at the time, she was forced to resign from teaching. She was allowed to substitute in surrounding communities. In 1959, she commenced working part-time for Attorney Frank Shaw and then for his son Bill Shaw. Betty then continued working for Donald A. Beneke as a tax professional with an accumulation of 60 years of experience.
Through these years Marvin and Betty were blessed with 3 children: Robert (1959), Randall (1961), Rhonda (1965) with Scott Zeman joining the family in 1970.
Betty was a highly regarded member of the following: St. Peter Lutheran Church (Council member for 8 years, Sunday school teacher for 18 years), Iowa Association of Legal Assistants (serving as chairman of the audit committee for many years), Accountants Association of Iowa, Amvets Auxiliary (Past President local chapter, and Past District President), American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty's favorite activities were riding motorcycle with her husband across the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed her travels with her sister Carol. Over her life time she has enjoyed square dancing, bowling, painting, baking, spending time with grand kids and even mowing the lawn.
Betty was preceded in death by Clinton (Father) and Marien (Mother) Lawver and Juhl Petersen (Brother in-law).
She is survived by Marvin Vosberg (Husband), Douglas (Brother) and Nancy Lawver, Carol Petersen (Sister). Children: Robert (Carol) Vosberg, Randall (Lori) Vosberg and Rhonda Vosberg (Robin Mullinix). Grandchildren: Rebecca (Patrick) Mooney, Ryan (Tina) Vosberg, Meghan (Jordan) Leckband, Daniel (Courtney) Vosberg. Great grandchildren: Marie and Molly Edwards, Xander and Keirah Talbert, Allison (Avery) Peirce and great great grandchild: Daniel Peirce.
