Bonita "Bonnie" Ellis, 84, of Laurens, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa. Bonita Jane Pearson was born on September 5, 1934, in Albert City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Art and Stella May (Ruby) Pearson. Bonnie graduated from Albert City High School in 1952. On November 11, 1955, Bonnie was united in marriage to William "Bill" Ellis at Albert City. The couple settled in Laurens where they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. Together they were blessed with three sons, Richard, Daniel and Gary. She worked as a waitress at local cafes over the years before retiring. Bill passed away in 2015 and Bonnie continued to make her home in Laurens.
Bonnie was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She and Bill enjoyed many winters in Texas and numerous trips to Knoxville to the Knoxville Nationals. Bonnie cherished her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Her nephew Bruce held a special place in her heart and she looked forward to his visits.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Richard, Daniel and Gary (Mary) Ellis all of Laurens; grandchildren, Andy (Kari) Kathman of Sutherland, Brady Ellis of Northrop, MN and Carson Ellis of Laurens, great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Adalyn and Braxtyn of Sutherland and a nephew, Bruce Garberding of Seattle, WA.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill and sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Ray Garberding.
