Carmen loved to dance; to dance and dance and to travel the upper Midwest and into the Rockies with Ed. Carmen loved to host gatherings, to cook and bake and garden. Her flower beds were splendid. Carmen's home was her pride and joy and she loved to decorate for holidays. Halloween was her favorite. Carmen enjoyed handcrafts, and she must have crocheted 1,000 miles of yarn into afghans for her family. Carmen was a whiz with a jigsaw puzzle.

While Carmen's primary vocation was raising her family, she also worked occasionally in retail clothing shops and school or restaurant food service. Carmen served for many years as an election official. She was active in the Plover United Methodist Church and was a leader in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Carmen Fisher was born in May of 1938 in Winnebago County to Edna (Sperring) and Carroll Fisher. She attended Plover School and lived most of her adult life in the Plover area. She married Ed Hubbell in 1955. They raised four children and were active in the lives of their grandchildren through the years. Grandchildren were special. Carmen moved to Pocahontas in 2013. She passed away February 27, 2024, at Arlington Place.

Carmen is survived by her children Cindy (Bob) Johnson of Dakota City, Eric (Teresa) Hubbell of Cody WY, and Kirk (Katie) Hubbell of Plover, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, her sister Fayeth (Tom Furneaux) Walton, nieces and nephews, and close friends.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Ed Hubbell (2001), her son Bill Hubbell (2020), her parents Edna and Carroll Fisher and stepfather Frank Walton, and her brother Eugene Walton.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, May 31, 2024, at Powhatan Cemetery near Plover, Iowa. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at the Spring Hills Country Club in Mallard, Iowa following the graveside. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
