Carol R. O'Brien, age 80, passed away on January 11, 2022, with her family by her side in Apache Junction, AZ.

Carol Rae Mueting was born on April 3, 1941, in Columbus, NE. She was the daughter of Adrian and Mildred (Noecker) Mueting. Carol's family moved to Pocahontas, IA when she was in the 7th grade. After graduating from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1959, Carol graduated from The College of Saint Mary in Omaha, NE and later Briar Cliff University, Sioux City, IA. On June 12, 1965, Carol was united in marriage to Mike O'Brien in Pocahontas. The couple settled in the Sioux City area where Carol was a long time Teacher in the Sioux City, IA School System. She dedicated her life to being a wife and mother. She gave herself unselfishly to the care of her family including her 2 sons and their families. In retirement, Carol and Mike split their time between their homes in Iowa/South Dakota and Arizona and appreciated their friends in both locations.

Carol and Mike were very active in the Catholic Churches where they resided. Carol was an avid golfer and she enjoyed doing stain glass projects as well as other glasswork. She also taught others how to do glass work. Carol was passionate about teaching, she loved to teach others, from school children to adults.

Survivors include her husband Mike of Ankeny; her two sons, Ted (Cindy) O'Brien of Ankeny and Tom (Sohila) O'Brien of Chandler, AZ; three grandchildren Elizabeth (Mack) Smith, Collin O'Brien and Aidan O'Brien all of Ankeny and her sisters Mary Green of Omaha, NE and Nancy (Tom) Lampe of Havelock.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Dave Mueting and Jim Mueting.
