Cecil Cook age 93 years, 4 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days of Lohrville, IA, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 19, 2025.   Cecil James Cook was born on September 3, 1931, to parents Everett and Mary (Casey) Cook at their home.  He grew up on the family farm where he attended country school and later graduated from Lohrville High School with the class of 1950.  He continued his education at Missouri State as a clerk typist for the Air Force.

On April 4, 1951, Cecil served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War earning the rank of Airman 1st Class USAF.  He was honorably discharged on August 7, 1952.   After returning home, Cecil was united in marriage to Mary Pat Dawson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, IA, on February 19, 1955.  This union was blessed with four children: Michele, Cecilia, John, and Patrick.

Cecil lived on the farm until he moved to Lohrvile in 1997, where he continued in the farming operation for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and going hunting with family and friends, fishing with Jim, and playing golf with friends.  Cecil loved his church community and served as a Lector in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville and other church activities.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 0368 and served nine years on the school board.  Cecil was the one who lowered the flag for the last time at the Lohrville School where his granddaughter Angie Brus taught.  Most mornings, you could find Cecil at Casey's, with friends, drinking coffee and telling stories.  Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Michele Cook of Lohrville, IA, Cecilia (James) Rossmanith of Churdan, IA, John (Emily) Cook of FL, and Patrick (Elizabeth) Cook of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Becki Miller, Angie Brus, Josh Rossmanith, Michael Rossmanith, Megan McGuire, Mecha Cook, McKenzie Friend, Brittany Cook, Abby Cook, and Joseph Cook; great-grandchildren: Connor Brus, Jacob Brus, Logan Miller, Lauren Miller, Wyatt Brus, Zander Rossmanith, Taryn Rossmanith, Braxton Ziegler, Iyla Rossmanith, Alanna Jackson, Paysen Friend, Carsyn Rossmanith, Vivian Friend, Aaliyah Wakahu, Kobe Burkhail, Jaxson Friend, and many nieces and nephews.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Mary Pat Cook; parents Everett and Mary Cook; brother Vincent Cook; sister-in-law Julaine Cook; sister Madonna Buckner; brother-in-law Albert Buckner, and special friend Rose Heath.
