Charles L. Brown, age 84, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Private Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery near Lake City, Iowa.

Charles Leo Brown was born June 1, 1939, in Leola, South Dakota. He was the son of Burton "Pat" and Coletta (Conlon) Brown. Following his graduation from high school, he entered the United States Navy where he served from August of 1959 to November of 1963. On November 22, 1967, Charles was united in marriage to Diane Nichols in Carroll, Iowa. The couple settled in Fostoria, and Charles worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation in Spencer. He retired in December of 1997 as a supervisor with 31 years of service. In 1999, the couple moved to Spirit Lake.

Charles loved fishing in his spare time and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane, of Spirit Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Pat Brown.
