Charles "Chuck" Tilden – age 70, of Rolfe, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Charles Fredrick Tilden was born August 1, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of George and Ora (Girard) Tilden. Chuck graduated from Windsor High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from Western Kentucky in 1970. Chuck taught and coached baseball for nine years at Lamoille Union High School in Vermont. On December 28, 1978, Chuck married Penny Hartswick in Granby, Connecticut. The couple moved and settled in Oregon, where they raised their family. Chuck was employed as a Safety/Health/Environmental Manager. In 2008, Chuck and Penny retired and moved to Rolfe, Iowa.
Chuck was a member of the Rolfe Lions Club and the Shared Ministry Church in Rolfe.
Chuck loved baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. He enjoyed coaching, Monday Night Football with the gang, telling stories, helping Penny in the garden and spending time on the patio that often led to spontaneous get togethers with the neighbors.
Survivors include his wife, Penny of Rolfe; daughter, Erica (Tim); son, Joel Tilden of Rolfe, IA; grandson, Jacob; sister, Barbara Hale of Granby, CT; nieces, Kim (Brian) Michalewicz of Granby, CT; Bonnie (Greg) Mihran of Campbell, CA, Robin (John) Lindsay of High Point, NC; and his beloved German Shepherd, Lex. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gilbert "Buzz" Hale.
