Cindy Ilene Kallsen, age 68, of Lake City, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE surrounded by her loved ones.

Cindy was born on September 17, 1956, to parents Russ and Ilene (Sroufe) Becke. She grew up in Lake City where she attended school. In 1979, she graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Cindy worked as a Registered Nurse at various healthcare institutions including Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA, Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland, KS, University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, and Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA. Through her nursing career and deep propensity for compassionate care, Cindy touched the lives of many patients and their families while contributing to research and the advancement of the field of nursing. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, and restoring and repairing antique furniture.

She is survived by her mother, Ilene Becke of Lake City, IA; her children, Joshua Kallsen of Council Bluffs, IA, Kaleb Kallsen of Macedonia, IA, Katie (Michael) Guill of Omaha, NE, and Jay (Dani) Kallsen of Hoschton, GA; her grandchildren, Paige Kallsen of Omaha, NE, Jacey Kallsen of Honey Creek, IA, Kayler Kallsen of Carson, IA, Claire Vasek of Springfield, MA, Rory and Sloane Guill of Omaha, NE, Peter, Isabel, and Bradley Kallsen of Hoschton, GA; her siblings, Tim Becke of Lake City, IA, and Lori (Jeff) Sievers of Lake City, IA; her lifelong best friend, Jan Turner of Kansas City, MO; and beloved nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Russ Becke.
