Cindy Jane, 64, of Lake City, passed away on March 21, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, with Rockey and her kids by her side.

Cindy Jane VanMeter, the daughter of Fay (Roe) Monroe and Anna Marie (Millis) VanMeter, was born March 10th, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Cindy was welcomed home by Lee, Jim, Janny, Donny, Sherri, with Cindy getting to welcome home Fae. Cindy grew up in the Rinard, Lohrville, and Lake City areas.

On May 5th, 1979, Cindy married the late Larry Miller. They were blessed with Lisa Dawn (1983), Rosco Duane (1986), and Nicholle Clara (1988). Their marriage had a different destiny; Cindy and Larry later divorced. Cindy was a strong-willed woman; she never took that "just because she was female, she couldn't do it".  Cindy was asked to go on a date in December 1998 with Rockey Davis. Little did Cindy and Rockey know they had each found their soulmate. They formally joined together in January 1999. Cindy told Rockey she was a package deal, it was her and her kids. He open-heartedly took the package deal, sharing 26 years together.

Cindy was a hard, committed, and devoted worker during her lifetime. She worked at Shady Oaks Care Center in laundry and housekeeping before moving across the parking lot to Stewart Memorial Hospital housekeeping. She loved being a laborer at Air Electric, but due to the factory closing she began working at Farner Bocken. Needing a career change, Cindy then worked at South Central Schools in the janitorial department; with the perk of getting to see two of her grandchildren extra every school day.  Cindy had to retire early due to medical reasons. If asked, she was able to have the greatest career of all, seeing and being with her grandkids. Cindy enjoyed painting, gardening, and being out on the farm with all the animals. Especially loved spending time with family. Nana was very known for giving her grandkids "drinks" of Pepsi, "just a little snack" before a meal, or anytime in general, "Because I'm Nana".

Left to cherish her memory is her soulmate Rockey Davis of Lake City; children: Lisa (Paul) Witte of Ankeny; Rosco (Shelby) of Auburn, Nicholle (Andy) Winter of Lake City; grandchildren: Ellyott and Clara Winter, Ruth and Noah Witte, Garrett Daiker, AnnaRae and Caroline Miller; Siblings: Lee (Pat) VanMeter, Janice Schneider, Donald (Lucille) VanMeter and Fae (Gerald) Presley; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Roe VanMeter and Anna (Millis) VanMeter, mother-in-law Betty Davis, brother Jim VanMeter, sister Sherri VanMeter, nephew Jamie VanMeter, and other extended family.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday at the Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Lampe & Powers Funeral Home.
