Clifford Wesley Porter, age 79, passed away on April 3, 2019, in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Cliff was born on May 10, 1939, to John Calvin & Mildred (Caboth) Porter at home in rural Armstrong, Iowa. He attended public school in Armstrong, Iowa. He married Sharon Roberta Corderman on December 21, 1958, at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong, Iowa. The couple resided in New Orleans, LA, Armstrong, IA, and Pocahontas, IA, until Sharon's passing on January 18, 1999. Clifford married Kathleen Fae (Riley) Heyn on September 2, 2000, in Pocahontas, IA.Cliff was a "jack of all trades" and loved to farm, drive truck, auto race, build motors, and drill wells. He worked at Artsway Manufacturing until he and Sharon started their first well drilling service. They started Armstrong Machine Company, Inc., prior to moving to Pocahontas, IA.
Cliff enjoyed his friends and family. He especially loved teasing his great grandchildren. He liked to travel for business and pleasure to all 50 states and all around the world. He loved to people watch and would easily strike up a conversation with them. In his later days, he took great pleasure in taking his beloved dog Zoey for rides in his Smart car.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Fae, of Pocahontas; daughters, Roberta Reese and Michelle Ames of Pocahontas, IA; step-children, Dean (Melanie) Heyn of Denver, CO, Cheryl (Mark) Bolluyt of Norfolk, NE, Scott (Sharon) Heyn of Asheboro, NC, and Dianna Heyn of Hurst, TX; grandchildren Christopher Clark of Pocahontas, IA, Tim (Kristal) Poyzer of Pella, IA and Todd Poyzer of Portland, OR; step-grandchildren, Amanda (Jakob) Chilco, Joshua, Alexandria, Nickolas, Samantha, and Lauren Heyn; great-grandchildren, Christopher (C.J.) and Micah Clark and Khloe, Karley & Kash Poyzer; sister, LaDonna (Don) Jenson of Armstrong, IA, brother-in-law, Randy (Judy) Corderman of Oak Harbor, WA; sisters-in-law, Beverly Corderman of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Carol Sanders of Armstrong, IA, Veronica Oddo, Patricia Denekamp of Las Vegas, NV, Katherine (Jeff) McLean of LaVista, NE, Madonna Riley of Mobridge, SD and Maxine Riley of Vancouver, WA, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife Sharon Porter, son Brian Michael Porter, parents, John Calvin & Mildred Porter, brother, Calvin, Jr. (Sonny), in-laws, Robert & Esther "June" Corderman, stepson Jeffrey Heyn, sister-in-law Carol Winn, brothers-in-law, Ray Sanders, Francis Riley, John Riley and Anthony Oddo.
Clifford requested his body be donated to the Research For Life Organization. A celebration of Cliff's life will take place on (April 27), at (10:30 a.m.), at the (Pocahontas Expo Center).
