Colleen K. Lines – age 87, of Pomeroy, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Grace Estates by Lakeside in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Colleen Kaye Armstrong was born on July 23, 1934, in the family home in Knoke. She was the youngest of 8 children to Charles and Zelma (Stevens) Armstrong. She schooled and graduated from Pomeroy School in 1953. For a brief time, she lived in Minnesota working in a bank. She returned to the Pomeroy area and married Delmar (Bud) Schoon on December of 1955. The couple lived in Manson before moving to their farm in Palmer. They had 4 children. Delmar passed away in 1970.   Colleen moved her family back to Pomeroy and worked at Iowa Hydraulics in Pocahontas. A son, Donald passed away in 1976. On March 15, 1980, she married Virgil Lines and welcomed daughter, Valorie. In 1980, Virgil and Colleen and family moved to Rockford, Iowa where they farmed. A son, Billy passed away in 2011. Colleen also worked for the railroad contractor picking up train crews and transporting them to their destinations. She met many along the way and enjoyed their conversations. She also worked briefly at Becky's Greenhouse in Dougherty. Virgil passed away in March of 2013.

Colleen loved her flowers and her Christmas cactuses. She always had a cup of coffee nearby. She was a baker and made the best peach pies and brown bread.

Survivors include her children, Deb (Rick) Watts of Curlew, Terry (Cathy) Schoon of Fort Dodge and Valorie (Emilee) Lines of Ankeny; sister, Donna (Bob) Burke of Pomeroy; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Delmar Schoon; sons, Donnie Lee and Bill Schoon; second husband, Virgil Lines; great-grandson, Calvin Miller; brothers, Sam and Delmer and sisters, JoAnn, Phyllis, Opal and Caroline.
