Connie J. Habben, age 73, of Pocahontas, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at her home with her daughter by her side.

Constance JoAnn Hudek was born in Laurens, Iowa on February 22, 1951. She was the daughter of Verle & Sadie (Hronek) Hudek. She was educated in the Pocahontas Catholic Schools and graduated in 1969. After high school she completed a course in Airline Personnel Training at Atlantic School in Kansas City. After completing the course, she came back and worked as a Dairy Sweety for her family's restaurant. On September 22, 1973, Connie was united in marriage to Dennis J. Habben. The couple settled in Palmer where Connie continued to work in food service, including opening her own restaurant and grocery store "Habben's", which she ran for 5 years. After that, she worked at Woods Grocery and Congregate meals.

Connie was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church. Connie loved to bake Kolaches and caramel pecan rolls, which she was famous for in Pocahontas, and loved to share her delicious creations with everyone she could. She earned the names Cookin' Con and The Kolache Queen. She also enjoyed visiting with friends regularly and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Connie will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity and humor.

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Jennifer) Habben of Boone, Alison Habben of Iowa City and Nicholas Habben of Spencer; grandchildren, Brayden Habben, Brianna Habben, Bryce Habben and Corbin Habben; siblings, Richard (Bella) Hudek, Susan (Larry) DeBuse, Debra (Larry) Bevins and Thomas (Tammy) Hudek and sisters-in-law, Jean Meyer, Sue Hudek and Syd Hudek.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Verle and Sadie; brothers, Dennis and Robert Hudek; parents-in-law, John and Anna Habben; brother-in-law, Harvey Habben and sister-in-law, Marlys Peters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Connie's name to the Palmer Library or the Pocahontas Catholic School.
