Darrel Dean Jones, age 65, of Yetter, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 3, 2025. He was born to Dean and Edna (Means) Jones on Jan. 30, 1960. He was a Bulldog graduate of Lytton High School class of 1978.

Darrel spent 30 years working in the service station industry changing tires and working on cars, later working at the Yetter Co-op until he was no longer due to a disability. Darrel met his wife Deb in 1983 while they were on a blind date. He was united in marriage to Deborah Sue Thul on Oct. 11, 1986. They made their home on an acreage near Yetter, IA, where they raised cattle and chickens, and had many pets. His loyal dog Barney was his constant companion and the two shared countless trips in his car. If you saw Darrel you would often see Barney by his side. Darrel enjoyed fishing and participating in antique tractor pulls, showcasing his Farmall red tractors.

Darrel and Deb are very blessed to call Kyler Kearsytn, Keagyn Lennon their Honorary children, they spent many weekends growing up at the farm and Darrel was very proud to teach them many life lessons.

Darrel is survived by his loving wife: Deb Jones of Yetter; sister: Barb (Murphy) Lamaak; sister-in-law: Pat Holst; nieces: Amber Lamaak, Ashley Lamaak, Jodi Berns, and Melissa Holst; nephews: RJ Berns, Eric Berns, and Bryan Holst; great-nephews: Bryce Fulbright, Derek Dallas, Jordan Miller, Mason Lamaak, Caleb Lamaak, Kyler Lennon, Keagyn Lennon, Joseph Berns, Gavin Berns, Kolby Wilson, and Rhett Lennon; great-nieces: Kinsley Phifer-Lamaak, Brittany Otterson, Kearsytn Lennon, Bailey Yates, Tristen Holst, Ella Berns, Harper Otterson, and Copelyn Otterson.

Preceding Darrel in death are his parents: Dean Jones and Edna Porter; step-father: John Porter; siblings: Duane and Elizabeth; grandparents: JF and Goldie Means and Charlie and Hilda Jones; parents-in-law: Francis and Mildred Thul; siblings-in-law: Bill and Linda Vinsant, Sharon Berns, Dick Holst, and Alan Thul; nephew: Joe Berns; great-niece: Carissa Berns.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, IA. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at the Lampe & Powers Funeral Home.
