Darvin C. Hauswirth – age 100, of O'Fallon, Missouri, formerly of Havelock, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, in O'Fallon, Missouri.

Darvin Charles Hauswirth was born on May 5, 1923, to Charles and Manely (Junkman) Hauswirth in their rural Havelock home. At the age of 8, he moved with his parents to Sunset Hill Farm near Havelock. He graduated from Havelock School in 1940 and went on to attend Fort Dodge Business School. On July 1, 1944, Darvin was united in marriage to Peggy Lou Cole in Laurens. To this union two children were born, John "Jack" Arnold and Christie Marie. The couple settled on Sunset Hill Farm, an Iowa Century farm, where they farmed and raised their family. Darvin was also a driver and mechanic for the family's business, Hauswirth Trucking. Peggy passed away in 1990 and Darvin continued to make his home on the farm. In December of 2017, Darvin moved to the Laurens Care Center and in 2020 he moved to Missouri to be closer to family.

Darvin was a member of Hope Church in Havelock, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed traveling and making friends all over Iowa. Darvin was a beloved husband, father, son, sibling, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family and a lifelong friend to those who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, Christie (Leroy) Mellema of Zeeland, Michigan; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Janet Doane of Clive, Iowa.

Darvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy of 45 years; son, Jack in 2016 and brother, Wayne in 2005.
