Denise M. Hardt, age 69, of Laurens, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at her home in Laurens, Iowa.

Denise Marie Herzog was born April 6, 1954, in Wausau, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Dennis and Marion (Nowak) Herzog. She was educated in Wausau grade schools then moved to Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1972. She went on to Western Iowa Tech where she earned a degree in nursing. She worked at the Ruthven Care Center, Laurens Care Center and the assisted living center in West Bend.  On May 3, 2014, Denise was united in marriage to Tim Hardt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. The couple resided in Laurens and Denise continued to work in the nursing field until retiring in 2021.

Denise was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers and she was always willing to help someone in need. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Tim of Laurens; sons, Eric (Cindy) Shannon of Ankeny, Kevin (Jody) Shannon of Laurens and Hale Hawley; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Colby, Wyatt, Mia, Kayden, Cole and Carly; a sister, Robin Downing and sister-in-law, Jenise Herzog. Denise was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Steven Herzog.
