Dennis Raymond Callon, age 76, of Rolfe passed away on May 8, 2021 on the farm where he lived all his life. Dennis was born just after his twin sister Diane on April 25, 1945 to J. Raymond and Irene Callon of Rolfe.

Dennis graduated from Rolfe High School in 1963. After high school he served in the Army National Guard and began farming at the age of 19 after his father passed away. He was proud to have his family farm recognized as a Century Farm by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship at the Iowa State Fair in 2016 with his son, Michael, by his side.

Dennis enjoyed bowling in his early adult years and through his bowling team, he met his wife, Lorretta DeWall. Dennis and Lorretta were united in marriage on December 5, 1970 and made their home on the family farm, where they welcomed and raised their four children Sandra, Lynn, Michael and Julie. Through his life's work on the farm, Dennis taught his children the value of hard work and patience as they all worked together through planting, harvesting and raising livestock. He proudly supported his children making his voice heard from the sidelines of all of their sporting activities and helping them show livestock at the county fair. Though Dennis was most content on his farm, the family enjoyed many trips to watch the Minnesota Twins and to Des Moines to enjoy the amusement rides at Adventureland. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada with the Dale Johnson family over the years.

Dennis was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church and later in life served as a Trustee and was on the Church Council. He was also a member of "the Round Table" as it is affectionately called, where he spent most mornings with a group of gentleman having a donut and "coffee" and trying to solve the world's problems. An avid sports fan you could find him at home in his favorite chair cheering on the Cubs, Twins and Hawkeyes or flipping over to Fox News. Most of all Dennis loved spending time with his ten grandchildren and watching them in their many activities, giving driving lessons, sharing his love of chocolate and dating advice. He retired from farming in March of 2021 though still enjoyed working ground in a few fields this spring with his son, Mike.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of more than 50 years Lorretta, his four children and their families: Sandra (David) McDill, Lynn (Adam) Baumgartner, Michael (Heather) Callon, and Julie (Troy) Siegert; ten grandchildren: Hannah, Colin, and Faith McDill; Sidney, Jaxon, and Carter Baumgartner; Drew and Drake Callon and Daniel and Kate Siegert. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Terry Brenneman and nieces Joelle and Jill.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father J. Raymond Callon, mother Irene Callon Flaherty; step-father Walter Flaherty and twin sister Diane Brenneman.
