Dennis Kruse, age 86, of Lake City, Iowa, passed away at his home on Monday, June 1, 2026.  Dennis Paul Kruse was born on September 15, 1939, to parents Paul and Helen (Seivers) Kruse in Carroll, IA.  He grew up on the farm near Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School.  After graduation, Dennis enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army on January 30, 1958.  He served during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of PFC, and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1961.

Dennis was married to Rosemarie Görgen and was blessed with five children: Debi, Randy, Scott, Kurt, and Jason. They later separated.  He raised his family in the Lake City area, where Dennis worked as an appliance repairman.  He also worked at Lake City Hardware, the County secondary roads crew, and raised calves and cattle when he was younger.  Dennis was a member of the Top Rail Saddle Club and an officer for the Lions Club. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing. Dennis met Nyla Davis, and they spent many years together.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nyla Davis; children: Debi (Kirk) Citurs, Randy (Lesley) Kruse, Scott (Diane) Kruse, Kurt (Debbie) Kruse, and Jason Kruse; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara (Bill) Yewell.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Douglas and David.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Military Graveside Rites will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Lanesboro Cemetery.
