Dennis L. Rubel – age 70, of Laurens, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa, after a 23 day battle of colon and liver cancer.

Dennis Lee Rubel was born November 20, 1951 in Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of Clair Sr. and Norma (Swigert) Rubel. Denny attended the Laurens High School, then joined the Army National Guard. Denny married Diane Hawley and together they had two daughters, Denise and Darci. He settled in Laurens and farmed with his father, Clair, and brother, Gene. Following his farming career, Denny trucked full time. On January 5, 1998, Denny married Brenda Ahlers and gained two step-sons, John and Brian Ahlers. He then went to work for Bobalee for 4 years before going back to driving over the road. Over the many years of semi driving, he racked up nearly 200 million miles. Dennis retired in 2019.

Denny lived a very simple life, the ones who really knew him, knew he had a huge heart. He liked animals and spending time with friends.

He leaves behind his mother, Norma Rubel of Laurens; wife, Brenda of Laurens; daughters, Denise Terrell of Peterson and Darci (Jeff Potter) Rubel of Elliott; step-sons, Brian Ahlers and John Ahlers; 4 grandchildren; his beagle, Daisy; brothers, Gene (Connie) Rubel of Webb and Clair Rubel Jr. of Curlew and sisters, Joni Rubel of Oregon and Peggy Rubel of Spencer.

Denny was preceeded in death by his father, Clair Sr. and infant brother, Danny and his precious beagles, Bailey, Kayhee and Miller.
