Dennis D. Waters - age 71, of Laurens, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Dennis Dean Waters was born on August 30, 1948, in Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of Russell and Marjorie (Davis) Waters. He grew up in the Havelock and Plover area, graduating from Havelock High School in 1966. He attended community college in Fort Dodge for two years before transferring to Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, MO. Dennis met Joy at NWMS. He graduated in 1971 and on April 2, 1971, Dennis was united in marriage to Joy Holmes in Atlantic, Iowa. The couple lived in Rembrandt where Dennis taught high school science and coached. In 1976, they moved to Laurens where Dennis continued to teach science and coach. Dennis was very active coaching over the years coaching both boys and girls. He coached everything from Little League baseball to volleyball to golf. He retired from teaching in 2008 but continued coaching.

Dennis was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Laurens Golf Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his true love was golf. He also loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Joy of Laurens; daughter, Amy (Chad) Wood of Hendersonville, TN; son, Joel (Krista) Waters of Fremont, NE; and four grandchildren; Ayden & Emma Wood and Carter & Callie Waters. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
