Donna "Jeanie" Gorden, age 80 of Lake City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.   Donna Jean was born on October 9, 1944, to parents Warren and Bernice (Pierce) Terry in Lake City.  Born and raised, Jeanie attended and graduated from Lake City High School.

On June 3, 1961, Jeanie was united in marriage to Jesse Eugene Gorden at the Woodlawn Christian Church.  This union was blessed with three children: Scott, Jeff, and Kim.  Jeanie worked several jobs throughout her life.  She worked at GE in Carroll, IA, was a cook at the Wagon Wheel, a cook for Opportunity Living, and a Physical Therapy Assistant at the hospital.  She was also a member of the Ladies Group at her church, Woodlawn Christian Church.

Jeanie loved to cook and bake.  Any time she and Jesse would go grocery shopping, they were sure to get enough food for everyone!  When she wasn't baking, Jeanie enjoyed crafting, going thrifting, and drinking her coffee.  She also liked the outdoors and fishing.  From 1983 to 2015, they had a cabin at Blackhawk Lake in Lake View where they spent lots of time at.  Most of all, Jeannie cherished her time with her family.  She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Jesse Gorden of Lake City, IA; children: Scott (Rhonda) Gorden of Lake City, IA, and Kim (Jeff) Shugar of Sergeant Bluff, IA; grandchildren: Amanda (Paul), Amber (Jeremy), Amy (Eric), Megan (Keith), Jobi (Haley), Caleb, Jessica (Tyson), Zach, Ashley (Mark), Brandon, Jacob (Tinesha), Marc, and Nicholas; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings: Kathryn (Dan) Schamel of Carroll, IA, Irene Dory of FL, Loren (Cathy) Hansen of Wall Lake, IA, Shirley (Steve) Danial of Lidderdale, IA, Vickie (Rick) Onken of Carroll, IA; sister-in-law Sue Terry of Early; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Daryl; sister Deborah; son Jeffery; grandson Trevor; brothers-in-law: Larry, Eddie, Bill, Plato, and Frank; sisters-in-law Arnetta and Betty; parents-in-law Ellet and Stella Gorden.
