Doris Filmer, age 86 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA.  Doris Faye was born on March 6, 1936, to parents Albin and Laura (Baldwin) Strand in Vermillion, SD.  She grew up in South Dakota and later moved to Lake City in 1952.

On May 29, 1958, Doris was united in marriage to Jimmie Filmer in Lake City.  This union was blessed with three children, Dean, Doug, and Lori. They raised their family in Lake City where Doris worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at Stewart Memorial Hospital and did in-home child care.  She retired in 1994.  After her retirement, Doris enjoyed wintering in Texas, going camping, and playing cards.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dean (Cindy) Filmer of Lake City, IA, and Doug (Dixie) Filmer of Lake City, IA; grandchildren: Joshua, Derek, Jessie, Dina, Jason, Jason, and Alicia; 18 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Vonk; husband Jimmie, grandson Justin; parents Albin and Laura; and siblings Ed Strand and Gayle Ingran.
