Dorothy M. DeVaul – age 90, of Albert City, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Pleasant View in Albert City, Ia.

Dorothy Mae Wolkenhauer was born June 6, 1930, in Pocahontas, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Dorothea (Werner) Wolkenhauer. She graduated from Pocahontas High School. On May 29, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Larry DeVaul in Pocahontas. The couple lived in Havelock where Dorothy worked as a secretary at the Havelock school system. In the mid-1960's Dorothy and Larry settled on the family farm near Pocahontas. In Pocahontas, Dorothy worked as a cook at the school. Larry passed away in Sept. of 1978, and late that year Dorothy moved into Pocahontas. She worked as a clerk at the Ben Franklin Store and then at Woods Super Market. In 2012, Dorothy moved to the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Dorothy was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where she served in the ladies circle and on the church board. She enjoyed crocheting and she especially loved the time she spent with her grand and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean (Mike) Julius of Albert City; daughter-in-law, Diane (Denny) Ferguson of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Julius, Brian (Bobbi) DeVaul, Andy (Amanda) DeVaul and Jennifer (Josh) Holt and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry DeVaul; son, Alan DeVaul; brother, Edward Wolkenhauer and sisters, Eileen Meyer and Luella Heykes.
