Doug C. Cook – age 74, of Pocahontas, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at his home in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Douglas Clifford Cook was born October 7, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the son of Clifford and Hallie (Brent) Cook. Doug graduated from the Havelock-Plover High School in 1966, then attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where he studied Food Marketing Management. Following his education, Doug returned home to join the family farming operation. On June 7, 1970, Doug was united in marriage to Sharyn Kirsch at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple settled on the family farm between Havelock and Plover, where they raised their family. Doug continued to farm with his father, Clifford, and was later joined in the farming operation by his son, Brad. Doug retired in 2018.

Doug was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, where he served on many church boards over the years and as Trustee. He also served on the Pocahontas County Farm Bureau Board and as a volunteer fire fighter on the Plover Fire Department. Doug loved farming and had a passion for old cars. Family vacations took them from coast to coast and border to border. Later he and Sharyn expanded their horizons by visiting 48 countries, often finding themselves in "interesting" places. Doug especially enjoyed the time he spent with family.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sharyn of Pocahontas; son, Brad (Angie) Cook of Pocahontas; daughter, Andrea (John) Ramsey of Washington DC; grandchildren, Chase and Dani Cook, and sister-in-law Sandi Gilligan and husband, Terry, of Milford, Iowa. Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
