Earla Jean O'Neill – age 84, of Rolfe, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, Iowa.

Earla Jean Meier was born May 17, 1937, in Gilmore City. She was the daughter of Earl and Irene (Suhbier) Meier. She graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1954. Earla attended Nursing Aide training following graduation. In 1955, Earla married Jerry Howland in Blue Earth, MN. The couple settled in Rolfe. Earla operated the House of Notions store in Rolfe. She was united in marriage to Buster O'Neill in 1988 at the Gilmore City Lutheran Church. Earla worked as a Home Health Aid for Pocahontas County until retiring in the early 2000's. Buster passed away in 2008 and Earla continued to make her home in Rolfe.

Earla was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe and the Ladies circle. She enjoyed traveling throughout the years and playing cards with family. She especially enjoyed baking and cooking and was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy McGruder of Rolfe; grandchildren, Jeremiah Howland of Des Moines and Jacey Braunschweig of Laurens; sister, Linda Buckley of Clarion and brothers, Don Meier of Gilmore City, Ron (Nancy) Meier of Gilmore City and Mike (Kathy) Meier of Dakota City.

Earla was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buster; son, David Howland; brother, Gary Meier and sister, Maxine Lange.
