Elaine Marie Gannon Eral, age 100, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Elaine was born March 31, 1926 in Redwood Falls, MN. She was the daughter of Thomas C. and Gladys (Steiner) Gannon. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School of Pocahontas in 1944. She was employed at the Pocahontas County Treasurer office before her marriage to Kenneth A. Eral on April 28, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas. They settled on a family farm west of Pocahontas where it was their home for 75 years.

Elaine was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society and charter member of the Pocahontas genealogy group. Elaine enjoyed golf, bowling, swimming and especially their front porch get togethers with family and friends.

Elaine is survived by their three children, Connie (Phil) Smith of Parker, CO; Roger (Julie) Eral of Estero, FL and David (Laura) Eral of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Matthew Eral of Atlanta, GA; Brad (Bridgett) Eral of Hopkins, MN; Amy and Carrie Eral of Denver, CO and Jack Smith of Parker, CO; great-grandchildren, Louise Marie and Annie Elaine Eral of Hopkins, MN, and a brother, Joseph Gannon of Chicago, IL.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 2019; her sisters, Gwen Stokes and Bonnie DeWall; brothers, Mark, John, Bill and Francis Gannon; sisters-in-law, Ann and Marge Gannon, and brothers-in-law, Byron DeWall and Roy Stokes.
