Eldon D. Stall, age 92, of Palmer, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Manson, Iowa.

Eldon David Stall was born May 23, 1930, on a farm 7 miles north of Waukee, Iowa, to Ralph and Viola (Peitzman) Stall. Eldon attended Waukee High School and graduated in 1948, upon which time he attended Iowa State University. After two years, Eldon volunteered for the Iowa Air Guard and was activated to war-time status during the Korean War.

On September 16, 1951, Eldon was united in marriage to Donna Rae Towns at the Redfield Methodist Church in Redfield, Iowa. After their wedding, they both returned to finish Eldon's career in the service, where he would obtain air-man of the month. During this time, they were stationed in Bangor, Maine and Alexandria, Louisiana.

After the service, Eldon and Donna moved to Ames to finish Eldon's degree from Iowa State. Eldon always wanted to farm, and after graduation, he began farming near Waukee, Iowa, where he and Donna started their family. After 11 years near Waukee, they moved to a farm near Palmer in 1965, where he continued to farm. Eldon also raised hogs and worked as a Farm Representative and on the Bank Board for Commercial State Bank in Pocahontas. In the mid 1980's, he retired from the bank after it's closing, having worked there for 18 years. He continued to farm and raise hogs until his full retirement in 1990. In 2019, Eldon and Donna moved to the Arlington Place in Pocahontas, and in 2022, Eldon moved the Good Samaritan Home in Manson.

Eldon was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, the Palmer American Legion, the Lions, and the Mayflower Society. Eldon enjoyed serving in many activities. He served as a 4-H leader, School Board member, State Vice President for the FFA, and held several positions on church boards. He served on the Pocahontas County Soil and Water Conservation Board and in all capacities for the Pocahontas County Farm Bureau. One thing he really enjoyed was watching the Palmer Boys basketball team in their hay-day and was voted Fan of the Year on one occasion. A proud moment for Eldon was taking an Honor flight in 2014. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, traveling, vacationing at Okoboji, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Donna Rae of Pocahontas; children, David (Jody Flaherty) Stall of Palmer, Diane (Kenny) Sandy of Waukee, Duane (Janie) Stall of Sioux Falls, SD and Daryl Stall of Waukee; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Lawrence of Boise, ID and daughter-in-law, Donna Stall of Palmer.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dan; grandson, Shane Ommen and two infant grandsons, Jacob Stall and Lucas Stall.
