Elizabeth "Betty" Kemmer - age 91, of Pocahontas, entered into heaven on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Parsons House in Omaha, Nebraska.

Elizabeth Joan Strathman was born August 2, 1930 in Pocahontas, Iowa. Betty was the youngest of 8 children of Frank and Anne (Dultmeier) Strathman. Betty graduated from the Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1949. Betty married John "Jack" Beckel of Storm Lake, Iowa and raised 4 children, eventually moving with their family back to Pocahontas. Jack passed away after a long illness in 1969. Betty married James "Jim" Kemmer in 1970 until his passing in 1994.

Betty was an amazing quilter and baker. Her pies were always a hit with her family and friends. Her quilts are a comfort to all of her children and grandchildren. She won a Blue Ribbon for one of her quilts at the Iowa State Fair. Betty also loved to play bridge and was a member of several local bridge clubs. Betty was also a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, where she was active in both the church and Catholic Daughters.

Betty is survived by her children, Robert (Kelly) Beckel of Green Valley, AZ, John (LuAnn) Beckel of Des Moines, Jane (Joseph) Kavan of Omaha, NE and Gerald (Chris) Beckel of Haslet, TX; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jack and Jim; brothers, Frank, Jerry and Tike; sisters Kathryn, Grace, Rosann and Donna and grandchildren, Ryan and Carrie. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
