Ethel F. Reese - age 85, of Pocahontas, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Ethel Florence Meyer was born February 4, 1934, in Paullina, Iowa. She was the daughter of Roy and Meta (Massman) Sr. Ethel attended Primghar schools. On June 28, 1953, she married Ivan Reese in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple lived in the Milford-Spencer area and in Algona before settling on the farm near Ware in 1958, where Ethel worked various jobs. In the mid 1970's, Ethel and Ivan moved to Mallard and then to Laurens for a short time, before moving back to Mallard, where they purchased Excey's Café and later changed it into their home. Ivan passed away in 2000 and Ethel continued to make her home in Mallard until her recent move to Pocahontas.

Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mallard. She enjoyed fishing, helping out on the farm, gardening and baking.

Survivors include her sons, Adron (Pam) Reese of Pocahontas and Curtis (Debra) Reese of Olivia, MN; sisters, Bernice Back of Spencer and Alana Blair of Spirit Lake; brothers, Hilmer (Denyse) Meyer of Kettle River, MN, Wilmer (Terry) Meyer of Northglenn, CO and Roy (Drulene) Meyer Jr. of Ocheydan. Ethel is also survived by grandchildren, Paxton Reese of Mallard, IA, Maranda Sabin of Emmetsburg, IA, Lakeisha (Chris) Grethen of Emmetsburg, IA, Alison (Joe) Grannes of Hopkins, MN, Brian (Kelly) Reese of Brooklyn Center, MN and Jena Reese of Olivia, MN as well as many great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step - great-grandchildren. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan; an infant son; two sisters, Bernita Meyer and Edna Lundquist; brother, Homer Meyer; nephew, Ken Meyer and many brothers-in-law.
