Frank D. Halstead – age 79, of Pocahontas, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda, Iowa.
Frank Daniel Halstead was born March 4, 1939, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was the son of Lyle and Christina (Nielson) Halstead. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1957. On August 20, 1960, Frank was united in marriage to Patricia Kelly at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas. The couple lived in Emmetsburg for several years before settling in Pocahontas. Frank worked as a car salesman for over 40 years, working in Emmetsburg and then in Pocahontas for various dealerships. He retired in 2014.
Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed working with his hunting dogs. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and supplying corn to his neighborhood squirrels.
Survivors include his wife, Pat of Pocahontas; sons, Dan (Cathy) Halstead of Lakeville, MN and Mike (Sue) Halstead of Eau Claire, WI; five grandchildren, Katie (Shawn) Joy, Nicole (Brian) Eagle, Mollie Halstead, Maggie Halstead and Sarah Halstead; a great-grandson, Graham; brother, Lyle (Janet) Halstead of Waterloo and sisters, Lavonne Miller of Des Moines; Cathy (Don) Shields of Illinois and Karen (Mike) Schanon of Amery, WI. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard.
