Fredrick "Fritz" Schott - age 83, of Pocahontas, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at his home near Pocahontas, Iowa.

Fredrick Leo Schott was born on September 3, 1936, in Pocahontas County, Iowa. He was the son of William and Freda (Midlee) Schott. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pocahontas. Following his education, Fritz enlisted into the U.S. Marines. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton and also spent time at sea. He married Vina Bierl in 1955 at Varina. Following Fritz's discharge, the couple lived in Dakota City for several years. They then moved to the Rolfe area where Fritz worked for the Kennedy Brothers, milking a heard of 60 cows and doing other farm work. In the mid 1960's, they settled near Pocahontas. Fritz worked at the Farmer's Coop – eventually becoming manager. He retired in the late 1980's

Fritz was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed farming and working on the farm and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his two sons, Rod Schott of Pocahontas and Rick (Carmen) Schott of Troy, IL; two grandchildren, Zach and Isabella; a brother, Joe (Betty) Schott of Sheldon; a sister, Eleanor Hohensee of Laurens and special friend, Sandy Hood of La Crosse, WI.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lucian, Walter, Leo, Clarence, Elmer and William and sisters, Laura Bunda and Elmira Struthers.
