Virgil Wagner – age 86, of Pocahontas, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Virgil Wagner was born on a farm near Havelock, Iowa on December 14, 1934. On March 1, 1940 the family moved to a farm east of Pocahontas where Virgil lived and kept as a home address until he moved to Arlington Place. He attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School. In early adulthood, he worked as an office equipment installer for Western Electric, a division of AT&T. In 1968 he returned to the family farm and farmed the balance of his life.

Virgil served two years in the U.S. Army. He served his time in Germany and used all of his leave time and long weekends traveling Europe and attending the World's Fair.

Virgil was an active member of the Resurrection of Our Lord church in Pocahontas and Diocese. He was an active member and office holder for many years in the Lions Club. He enjoyed golf, boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing and traveling. He went to the Rocky Mountains and to Europe to snow ski.

In 2016 he moved into Arlington Place and in December of 2019 he moved to the Pocahontas Manor.

Virgil is survived by siblings Richard (Geri) Wagner, Madonna Kakacek, Loren (Rosalita) Wagner, Mary Lee Phelan, Juanita (Greg) McCabe; and many nieces and nephews.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Blanche Wagner; sister, Kathleen Specht; brothers in-law, Donald Specht, Louis Kakacek and Marty Phelan.
