Gordon L. Booth passed quietly in his sleep early morning on January 1, 2021. It was a complete shock to his family, but fitting to Gordon. There was no fuss, sickness, or lingering-he simply fell asleep like any other night and didn't awake the next morning.

Gordon was born to Robert and Margaret Walker Booth in Oakland, CA. He was a bookworm and a scholar from the start. He started his education in journalism, forged his own path in this world, loved good jazz music, the Peanuts gang, and California wines. He met Linda, the love of his life, at the College of San Mateo and they married in April 1977 California. Much of his professional life was in public service. He served his communities as a volunteer fireman and an EMT-3 early on, then became certified by FEMA to work in Emergency Management. He was a master at logistics, and no one could organize a warehouse like him. His time with the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross saw him serve in this capacity during several national flood events, in both New Orleans and Portland, Oregon, and introduced his children into volunteering for their community. He started working for Carquest Auto Parts in Rolfe Iowa in 2003, where he delivered parts daily to several stops around Pocahontas and surrounding counties until his death. He loved feeling useful and felt every day, every stop, he was helping someone have a better day.

He was an amateur radio operator, with the call sign N7THH. He loved camping, fishing, gardening, and puttering around on his acreage. His later years found him heavily involved with local farmer's markets, and the Albert City Iowa Threshermen and Collectors Organization. Gordon had a love for Ford 8n tractors, as the sound of the tractor running reminded him of the sound his mother's Singer sewing machine mending his clothes. He purchased one in 2008 and loved working it on his acreage, at local tractor shows, and tractor rides. He also was passionate about collecting the various 3-point implements that were available to use on the small Fords. He joined the National Ford-Fordson Collectors Association and shared his vast knowledge of Ford tractors with club members and anyone who would listen. He wrote several articles that were published in the FFCA quarterly journal and shared his love and passion for antique tractors with his son. He was the FFCA Feature Grand Marshall in 2018 at the Albert City Threshermen and Collectors show due to his efforts to bring the National Club show to Albert City Iowa. He and his son spent countless hours grooming the grounds in preparation for the show each year.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, his eldest brother Leonard, and his beloved dogs Toby and Maggie. Survivors include Linda, his wife of 43 years, son Loren (Sabrina) of Laurens, daughter Merideth (Brad) Vaughn of Platte City, MO, treasured granddaughter Kylee of Platte City, MO, and older brother Richard (Cathy) of La Honda, CA. He was absolutely unforgettable, and one of a kind. He was quirky with a dry sense of humor and a heart of gold. Those who took the time to really know him, will never forget him.
