Grace Muriel (Block) Tiernan - age 82, of Pocahontas, passed away on April 26, 2023, at Friendship Haven – Journey's in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Grace was born February 16, 1941, in Rolfe, Iowa. She was the daughter of Fred and Aletha (Turley) Block.

Grace attended and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1959 where she was crowned homecoming queen.

Her many activities included being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pocahontas Genealogy, the Historical Society, Catholic Daughters, Chatter Club and weekly golf league.

Winning the pie auction with her famous strawberry pie at the county fair was a high light. Grace's cooking was always appreciated, even by a bus of wrestlers, cheerleaders and coaches in 1984 when they were stranded during a blizzard going home to Humboldt from Storm Lake after dark. She made them supper and breakfast before the county plow came up the lane to clear a path for the bus to leave the farm.

She was an amazing mother to her four daughters and grandchildren, known for her classic style, she set the bar high for them to follow. Being a farm wife she would go from running the tractor to the kitchen and back, though she never complained about anything during her life. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone and a good friend to many. Her grandchildren have happy memories of their sleep overs on the farm, bonfires, New Year's Eve parties, camping and playing church in the basement.

Survivors include daughters, Joann (Brian) Francis of Pocahontas, June (Matt) Koster of Fonda; Mary Gonnerman of Fort Dodge and her life partner, Craig Osbloom and Teresa (Jerry) Bollard of Spirit Lake; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; in-laws, Marilyn Block, Janet Block, Aubrey King, Joe Tiernan and Margaret Tiernan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; parents; sister, Louise King; brothers, Jim, Harold and Carl Block; grandson, Travis Francis and great granddaughters, Anne Muriel Thompson and Hattie Jo Jenkins.
