Hannah Dannenbring was born February 8, 1953 and died May 25, 2020. She dedicated her life to helping others, first at Epworth Village in York, Nebraska with her first husband Bill Schnackenberg, whom she married in 1979. While there, she gave birth to her 2 kids, first in 1981, a son named John. 18 months later, her second child, Emily, was born and brought home in the middle of an unexpected April blizzard. She and Bill then ran a group home for troubled teens in Auburn, Nebraska. In 1988, she moved to Creston, IA to work as an in-home counselor. She was an advocate for children and women in abusive relationships. She taught her 2 kids to stand up for what they believe in and thought that if she would've been born a few years earlier, she would've been a hippie. She also taught her kids the importance of enjoying things such as puddle stomping, having flour fights, and bursting out in song randomly, especially Puff the Magic Dragon. Christmas was especially important to her and she instilled this in her kids. She looked forward to driving around for hours just looking at Christmas lights. She had a love for animals and constantly had a house full of them, particularly cats.

In 1998, she married Gary Dannenbring, who eventually grew to share her love of cats. She never met a stray she didn't feed. The neighborhood cats all knew that if they were hungry, they could go to her house as there would always be a bowl of food outside. Oftentimes, she would call her kids just to tell them something that one of her cats did.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary, son John (Jennifer), daughter Emily (John), brother Paul (Jan) stepson Aaron, step daughter Sarah (Dustin), stepdaughter Heather, grandchildren Clark, Lilian, Miles, Xander, Jordyn, Maddie, Abby, Sydney, and us, her cats (Yoda, Clinton, Barack, and Joe).

She will be missed for all reasons listed above, but especially for the belly rubs and toy mice she provided us.
