at the Hope United Methodist Church in Havelock, Iowa

with Rev. Kris Frank officiating.

There will be no public visitation.

Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, near Havelock, Iowa.

Harlan D. Edge - age 83, of Laurens, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Harlan Dale Edge was born on August 9, 1937, near Havelock, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Helen (Cornwell) Edge. Harlan was educated in Havelock schools, graduating from Havelock High School in 1955. On June 21, 1959, Harlan was united in marriage to Rose Schendel at the United Methodist Parsonage in Havelock. Harlan served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Germany for a year and a half. Following his discharge, the couple lived in Spencer for three years where Harlan worked at Spencer Packing. In April of 1965, the couple moved to the family farm near Havelock, where they lived and raised their family. In 2002, Harlan retired from farming and in 2004, Harlan and Rose moved into Laurens.

Harlan was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Havelock where he served as a board member and on several other committees. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock. Harlan loved the time he spent with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Edge of Laurens; son, Jim (Carmin) Rigby of Odebolt; and five granddaughters, Brittanie, Kimberlie, Tiffanie; Stephanie and Mackenzie.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard Edge and Robert Edge.
