Harvey D. Cornwell, age 91, of Havelock, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Harvey Dean Cornwell was born on May 9, 1932, near Havelock, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Julia (Dunn) Cornwell. He was educated in Havelock Schools. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1951 – 1955. He was stationed on the USS Bugara Submarine and ported out of Pearl Harbor. He then moved to Adams, Minnesota where he began farming. On August 31, 1957, Harvey was united in marriage to Geraldine Aden at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in Minnesota for three years and then returned to Pocahontas County. They farmed west of Pocahontas for a year before moving to a farm northeast of Laurens where they lived for twenty-six years. In 1987, they moved to the home place north of Havelock. Geraldine passed away in 2018 and Harvey continued to live on the farm.

Harvey especially loved the time he spent living and working on the farm.

Survivors include his two sons, Joel Cornwell and Dale Cornwell both of Mallard; brothers, Jeral Cornwell of Grand Meadow, MN and Dalton Cornwell of Bentonville, AR, and a sister, Therma Fitzgerald of Lime Springs.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine; an infant daughter, Linda, and sisters, Marion Burgett and Judith Dempewolf.
