Helen K. Johnson – age 83, of Pomeroy, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Helen Katherine Ricklefs was born on June 5, 1936 near Palmer, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Emma (Onken) Ricklefs. Helen graduated from Palmer High School in 1954. She worked in the Telephone office in Palmer.

On January 8, 1971, Helen married Duane H. Johnson at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Lizard Township, near Palmer. Helen continued to work for the Telephone company in Palmer for years. Additionally, she worked with Duane as a farmwife. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.

Helen was a member of the Elfsborg Lutheran Church of Pomeroy, and quilted with the Elfsborg ladies, and various other groups.

Helen is survived by her brother, Robert (Irma) Ricklefs of Pocahontas; a good friend, neighbor and farm manager, Doug Krause of Fonda and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane in 2006, a sister Marie Wurr and a brother Harlan Ricklefs.
