Irene R. Wienhold - age 97, of Pocahontas, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Irene Rose Schroeder was born on October 23, 1921, near Havelock, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Holger) Schroeder. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1939. On October 7, 1940, Irene married Bernard Wienhold in West Bend. The couple farmed near Ware for several years before settling on the family farm near Havelock. Bernard passed away in 1990. Irene continued to make her home on the farm until 2006, when she moved into Pocahontas.

Irene was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society, C.D. of A., Legion of Mary, Catholic Order of Lady Foresters and the Missionary Ladies. She also served on the RICA committee. Irene enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening and card clubs.
Survivors include her children, Phyllis Cooper of Waconia, MN, Sharon Gammel of Cedar, MN, Larry (Sandy) Wienhold of Sioux City, Diane Albers of Spirit Lake, Michael (Debra) Wienhold of Jansville and David (Pauline) Wienhold of Manson; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; grandchildren, Randy Cooper and Jessica Brokish; five great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters and a son-in-law, Lyle Albers.
