James H. Craig - age 88, of Pocahontas, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

James "Jim" Henry Craig was born on March 31, 1932, in Pocahontas, Iowa. He was the son of Rose (Broderson) Craig. Jim graduated from Pocahontas High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving from January of 1953 to November of 1954 during the Korean War. Jim worked as a farm hand for Mauritz Freeburg and then farmed on his own near Havelock. On December 26, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Mildred Harris Allen in Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple settled near Havelock where they farmed and Jim also worked as a farm manager. In 1980, they moved to Pocahontas. They retired from farming in 1985. Jim continued to work as a farm manager for Shannon Farms until they were sold. Mildred passed away in 2006 and Jim continued to make his home in Pocahontas.

Jim was a current member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the United Presbyterian Church, having served on many church boards and committees. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was very handy and could fix anything. He built and repaired many clocks of all kinds over the years.

Survivors include his step-children, Deborah (Joseph) Rard of Livermore, CA and Marvin (Patti) Allen of Pocahontas and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother; wife, Mildred; sisters, LaVonne Gruver and Lenore Pierce; a step-grandson and several nephews.
