Jamie Charles Hertz of Arvada, Colorado and formerly of Laurens, Iowa passed away suddenly on July 11, 2023 at the age of 33.

Jamie Charles Hertz was born November 21, 1989, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of William Donald (Bill) Hertz and Vicki Jo Beshey. Jamie graduated from Laurens-Marathon High School in 2008. He was involved in jazz band, choir, wrestling, football, weightlifting, speech competitions, and honor roll.

After graduating from high school, Jamie  attended Iowa State for two years; then he began working in an electrician apprenticeship program where he ultimately reached his licensed journeyman status.

Jamie was a self-proclaimed hippie gentleman. He was a stranger to no one and he made friends everywhere he went. If he saw someone alone, he would go out of his way to ensure that he or she was instantly his new best friend and felt the warmness of his heart. He always greeted everyone with a generous and compassionate smile. Jamie was known by his family and friends as always being positive, upbeat, outgoing, and empathetic no matter what challenges he was facing or helping others through.

Jamie was a connoisseur of outdoor adventures. When he was not working, he liked to spend his time outside hiking, playing disc golf, camping, skiing, or snowboarding in the mountains of Colorado. Even though he enjoyed outdoor activities he also appreciated a good video game. His lifelong love for playing video games started at a young age by learning from his older brother Clif and included playing legendary games such as Zelda. Jamie's adventurous spirit led him to be an avid globe traveler. He traveled to Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Mexico, and Jamaica.

Jamie is survived by his son, Noah Walker of Sioux City, Iowa; his mother Vicki Beshey, his sister Tiffany (Joe) Roenfeldt and their four children Anabelle, Emmaline, Gwendolyn and Matthew of Marshalltown, Iowa and his sister Anna Beshey of West Sacramento, California; his brother Clif (Tessa) Rubicam and their three children Cayden, Kendra and Kannon of Stout, Iowa; his grandparents Grace and Don Hertz of Laurens, Iowa and Ken Bradfield of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and all others who loved him.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, William Hertz; his grandmother Kathy Bradfield; and his brother Kyle Dahl.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in memory of Jamie to the Laurens Library children's reading program or to the Laurens Swimming Pool Fund.
