Janice L. Fuchs – age 90, of Laurens, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the Laurens Care Center in Laurens, Iowa.

Janice Lillian Ferden was born on February 19, 1930, in Ottosen, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lester and Esther (Fehr) Ferden. Janice attended Rolfe High School. On October 9, 1947, Janice was united in marriage to Robert Fuchs at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Rolfe. The couple moved to Laurens where they settled and raised their family. Janice began working at Hakes Foods in the mid 1960's as an egg grader then in the lunchroom and then operated the print room. She retired in the late 1980's after over 20 years. Robert passed away in 1995 and Janice continued to make her home in Laurens.

Janice was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Laurens and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time at the lake. She loved the time she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Sandra (Joe Beck) Carlson of Dakota Dunes, SD, Linda Peterson of Alice, TX, Dennis (Cathy) Fuchs of Laurens and Donald (Nancy) Fuchs of Laurens; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Ferden of Manley; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ferden of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Joan; grandson, Marc Peterson; brother, Don Ferden; sister-in-law, Florence Ferden and sons-in-law, Jim Carlson, Bob Peterson and Steve Ingram.

PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, MAY 4, 2020, AT THE POWERS FUNERAL HOME-SACRED HEART CHAPEL IN LAURENS WITH BURIAL AT THE LAURENS CEMETERY NEAR LAURENS, IOWA.
